Photos can help clarify a situation you have described in the text, so make use of them when writing a report. Photos should always be accompanied by a caption. Remember to mention the year in the caption if it is important for understanding the photo. For photos, you do not need to mention the source. However, you do need to mention the name of the photographer for copyright reasons. For example, ‘S. Huit’, ‘Utrecht Archives’ or ‘ANP’. Sometimes, a photographer might work on behalf of an organisation. In such cases, you should state both the photographer’s name and the organisation (see Fig. 4.10). You should not mention photographers in the bibliography.

If you are the photographer, then you mention your own name. If (almost) all the photos are yours, it is sufficient to mention this at the start of a chapter or report. (‘The photos were taken by the author, unless otherwise stated.’)
Images on the cover page of a report do not require a caption. Instead, mention the photographer’s name at the bottom of one of the first pages.
