Doing Research

Learning how to do research is one of the key objectives of the Human Geography and Spatial Planning bachelor program and important in our departement.

Steps when doing research

Oftentimes, you start with choosing a topic. Once chosen, you define the topic, you focus on a specific issue, after which you start writing an academic and societal relevance and you define the problem.

You start looking for sources, select the right ones and structure these. When you have enough material and you have quite a clear idea what to wright about, you formulate the central question and, if necessary, sub-questions. At the same time you start thinking about the appropriate method to use and who and what you want to research.

You operationalize the literary concepts, execute the research and write a conclusion.
